Jazz 7" Singles (Pt. 17 — Miles Davis)
Hey! How are you (I need to know)? What’s the first, second, third thing you saw/read today? Add it up, tabulate the score or blow it off, and then start over again from zero with a 7" jazz recording . . . because here we (you/me) have, as promised, #4 in a sampling from the musicians who all released a groundbreaking jazz album in 1959 (see the previous 3 below), and of course Miles Davis “Kind of Blue” is always held up to the novice as well as the completist as a “must have”. This selection includes that extraordinary crew (Miles, Bill Evans, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Paul Chambers, Philly Joe Jones) but on a session previous to “Kind of Blue” from 1958, which again splits the song between two sides (which the comments on the back of the sleeve apologize for): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lmOiZHO6uM
